Nintendo confirms

Two weeks after Nintendo delayed Switch 2 reservations due to new tariffs proposed by President Donald Trump, the company confirmed prices and that gamers in the United States can book the next conversion. However, some projects will have prices rising.

Nintendo released on its website Friday, and the Switch 2 will continue to start at $450. Again, to keep the same price is the Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle, which costs $500. Starting April 24, American gamers can also pre-order their Switch 2.

The game pricing will remain the same, with the Mario Kart world still at the $80 price point, while the Donkey Kong Bananza released on July 17 will be priced at $70. What will change is the price of accessories, some of which add $5. This includes:

  • Switch 2 Pro Controller (initially $80, now $85)
  • Joy-Con 2 pairs (initially $90, now $95)
  • Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip (Originally $35, now $40)
  • Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set (Originally $20, now $25)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Camera (initially $50, now $55)
  • Joy-Con 2 Belt (Originally $13, now $14)
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set (initially $110, now $120)

Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 on April 2, winning a tough time when gamers won. The Switch successor does have a lot of motivation, with some analysts showing that its graphics capabilities are between the PS4 Pro and the PS5, but there are other concerns.

The most notable thing is the price in the Mario Kart world. The popular kart racing game, which costs $80, will be the most expensive game without any additional content or downloadable content. New games on all platforms are priced at $70. Nintendo hasn’t explained why the Mario Kart World deserves a higher price, but analysts think it could be due to the increased storage costs used in the Switch 2 cartridges.

To help save money from publishers, Nintendo has developed what is called a gaming keycard. These cartridges will use minimal storage space and allow the owner to download the entire game 2 directly. This means that when someone buys a physical cartridge, the entire game won’t be placed on that cartridge.

Another issue related to price is having to pay for the Switch 2 version of the already owned Switch game. While this does happen in the previous generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles, some Switch 2’s Nintendo Games upgrades will cost $10, while others will cost $20, and there are some free ones. Some gamers are dissatisfied with the lack of uniformity in pricing and the nonspecificity of how much improvements the Switch 2 version will have.
