CEO says

The transport company’s chief executive said Friday that attacks on employees of German German-Barne Railways increased by about 6% in 2024.

“Last year, there were about 3,300 physical attacks, a 6% increase from the previous year,” Richard Lutz told news portal T-Online. “Every form of violence against employees is completely unacceptable.”

Lutz said about half of the attacks were targeting train employees in the regional service sector. Other goals include cleaning staff, customer service staff and bus drivers.

“Unfortunately, we are a mirror of social development,” Lutz said.

Deutsche Bahn is increasingly in contact with passenger body cameras for employees.

“These devices have proven themselves to be security services and training personnel,” Lutz said.

Staff also received downgrade training, while trains were equipped with emergency alerts to seek help in a short period of time.

The rise of the attack comes during the busy year of Deutsche Bahn, during the European Football Championships in the summer, the company struggles to provide services on time.
