The death toll from deadly nightclub roof collapses in the Dominican Republic rises to 113, including two former Major League Baseball players
The death toll from the collapse of the roof of Jet Set Club in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic has climbed to more than 113. according to Associated PressThe iconic venue was packed with “musicians, professional athletes and government officials” as dust began to fall into attendees’ drinks before the entire roof collapsed.
In addition to dozens of people buried under concrete slabs, authorities say more than 255 people were injured. The Jet Club issued a statement Tuesday morning to express condolences to the families of those who died and were injured in the collapse of the roof. “Last night, this tragedy deeply shocked the hearts of all those who belong to Jet Set and all Dominicans. The loss of human life puts us in a profound state of sorrow and sorrow,” the venue wrote on Instagram. “In this difficult time, we pray with every affected family. We share their pain as if it were our own pain, just as we are in mourning. We are working comprehensively and transparently with competent authorities to assist victims and clarify what happened… We have joined this country and expressed solidarity in this unexpected and painful situation.”
At the time of publication, authorities were still investigating the cause of the roof collapse. Of the worst disasters described as one of the Dominican Republic, only 32 people were identified.
