AG Bondi launches DEI admission policy survey at the University of California

Attorney General Pam Bondi directed a compliance review investigation Thursday, investigating admissions policies at multiple schools in Stanford and the University of California.

The investigation led by the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division will examine Stanford’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policy; UC Berkeley; UCLA; University of California, Irvine.

The U.S. Supreme Court prohibits the use of DEI in admissions to discriminate against the college after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the case of Fair Admissions Company v. Harvard College.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) requires compliance.

“President [Donald] “Trump and I are committed to ending illegal discrimination across the country and restoring performance-based opportunities,” Bondy said.

Elite universities and universities have “prioritized racial quotas over opportunities” for decades, according to a press release from the Justice Department’s Office of Public Affairs.

The Justice Department claims that this practice divides Americans and discriminates against the entire applicant community.

Fox News Digital reported this week that several Virginia Colleges have cut DEI departments and initiatives in line with Trump’s executive order directives.

The Department of Justice wrote in a press release that the previous administration “has raised the ideology behind this illegal practice and did nothing to protect the civil rights of American students.”

Acting Deputy Attorney General Chad Mizelle said: “The Department of Justice will end a shameful system in which someone’s race is more important than their ability.” “Every university and university should know that illegal discrimination will be investigated and eliminated.”

The Justice Department said the compliance investigation into these universities “is just the beginning of the department’s work on eradicating illegal DEIs and protecting legal equality.”
