The small Playdate Console will rise to $229 on March 25

The Playdate is a small yellow gaming console with a crank that can rise in just a few days. In a newsletter from the panic, the developer said Playdates will start spending $229 on March 25, but you can still get the device for $199. Apparently, the panic moved to a new factory where the equipment was “spend more” than it was in the company’s old facilities. The panic also quoted manufacturing costs, when it raised the handheld price to $199 from $179 last year.

On the day Playdate is doing a price increase, Panic also dropped “(extremely) limited systems that were either completely renovated at its factory or had “very small cosmetic problems.” The refurbished units will be sold for $179, and Panic says they “work well and can “play the game perfectly” and offer a six-month warranty. “If the price keeps you from buying the game date, we hope these great systems can help,” the company wrote in the announcement.

The handheld gaming console was released in 2022. It has a black and white screen with over 150 games that you can download from its catalog. While the device has traditional arrows and game buttons, it also has a crank that developers incorporate into their games – Chopter Copterfor example, you have to turn the game date to its side to use the crank as a helicopter-style rotor. If you already have a play date, the company will be making catalog anniversary sales until March 20, where you can stock up on more handheld titles. Panic also reconfirmed that it is working with developers to bundle Season 2, which will provide buyer’s devices with a planned collection of fixed games for a period of time.
