A congresswoman who led the Brooklyn Democrat and a leading supporter of Mayor Eric Adams, who recognized his main rival in the upcoming mayoral election, former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo Sunday.

Mr. Hermelin, a member of the Brooklyn Democratic Committee and district leader, worked on Mr. Adams’ campaign and was hired by the mayor as a senior adviser to the strategic initiative, but resigned after raising questions about rules prohibiting management of employees, and the company also held leadership positions in political parties.
