Canadians are “frustrated” by conversations by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Hillman detailed the frustration Canadians felt with their neighbors when they showed up on CBS’s Face the Nation, saying that their citizens “do not really appreciate it.”
“They are a little frustrated by this remark,” Hillman said. “But more importantly, Canadians are frustrated by our neighbors.”
“Canadians feel under attack,” Hillman said of Trump’s tariffs. “This will certainly create some challenges in Canadian society.”

The U.S. began slapped 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods on Tuesday, and slapped 10% on Chinese imports as Trump hopes to reduce drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
By Thursday, Trump suspended 25% tariffs on most commodities covered by Canada and Mexico under the United States-Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) for a month.

Hillman said Canada’s new leaders will “prioritize building good, healthy and productive relationships with Trump.”

“I believe this will be possible,” she said. “Relationships are both going on, but I know on our side, it will be a priority.”
