US lawyers were rejected by the judges’ department to escalate inquiries Schumer

Ed Martin, the interim prosecutor of the District of Columbia, has been quietly presenting evidence to Democratic leader Sen. Charles Schumer, New York, and a federal grand jury for his comments on the Supreme Court justice in 2020.
One Justice Department officials rejected an unusual request from President Trump’s party ally Mr. Martin, who has no previous experience as a prosecutor.
Mr. Martin clarified his hopes of whether Mr. Schumer’s remarks five years ago threatened Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil M. Gorsuch. Current and former prosecutors say it is rare to raise such cases and it will be difficult to win a conviction.
Last month, Mr. Martin expressed his intention to take a positive attitude and wrote to Mr. Schumer a letter asking for “information and clarification” of his remarks at the 4 March 2020 rally.
“You have released the whirlwind and you will pay!” Mr. Schumer said at the rally, his speech to Justice Kavanaugh and Justice Gorchi. Mr. Schumer’s staff withdrew his statement, and the Senator apologized a day later and took it to the Senate floor and said, “I shouldn’t use words I’ve used.”
Mr. Schumer added that he has been referring to “political consequences” rather than violent retribution, citing his wording as his upbringing experiences.
Providing evidence to Mr. Schumer’s grand jury would be a significant escalation of Mr. Martin’s efforts. This would allow prosecutors to subpoena records and witnesses, thus giving them extensive authorization to dig out derogatory information – even if Mr. Schumer was never charged for accusing him of inciting violence against public officials.
The five-year time limit for suing Mr. Schumer is most likely due to allegations arising from any investigation Tuesday.
Mr Martin, Mr Schumer and the Justice Department representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Mr. Trump nominated Mr. Martin, who advocated Mr. Trump’s false claim that the 2020 election was stolen and became a permanent U.S. lawyer in Washington. But his partisan presence and opponent’s goals on social media, while synchronizing with Mr. Trump’s demand for retribution to the perceived enemy, could complicate his chances of confirmation.
North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis is a Republican serving on the Senate Judiciary Committee and provides a significant boost for Kash Patel’s nomination to become a director of the FBI – Martin’s confirmation will be a “real challenge.”
The safety of Supreme Court judges has become an increasingly worrying issue as the court’s rulings infuriates partisan and ideological tensions. Two years after Mr. Schumer’s remarks about the justice’s role in revoking the right to abortion, a man was arrested two years later, waving a knife and gun near his home in the suburbs of Washington. He told police that he intended to kill Justice.
Some Republicans accused Mr. Schumer of inciting a foul-down attack, although the man told police that his motive was due to a court ruling to overturn the leaked opinion of abortion rights.
Mr. Martin tried to place the table on the back of accusing Mr. Trump and his supporters of ushering in an era of political violence, who chose not to accept Mr. Schumer’s benign explanation of his comments.
A spokesman for Mr. Schumer had previously said that his office received a letter from Mr. Martin last month asking about the remarks. Within a few days, Mr. Schumer’s chief of staff responded with his letter and wrote that the senator’s comments were “not a threat to anybody’s physical harm.”
Martin announced in an email to his staff last month that Operation Tornado was created to investigate threats to public officials, including an investigation into statements by Mr. Schumer and California Democratic Representative Robert Garcia.
Mr. Martin, who supported Mr. Trump’s leniency awarded by the thugs who attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021, sent Mr. Garcia a letter last month asking him to know why he called on Democrats to “bring actual weapons to this bar battle” to fight Mr. Musk’s efforts to cut federal workers. It is not clear whether he has opened any other queries.
Mr. Garcia, like Mr. Schumer, his remarks are metaphorical, not violent invitations.
In just over a month, Mr. Martin subverted one of the country’s foremost U.S. Attorney’s Offices to investigate political violence and corruption, in addition to handling prosecutions for street crime in cities plagued by gun violence and carjacking in recent years.
Several of the top prosecutors in the office were demoted Friday to low-level positions for small crimes, another step in a retribution campaign against Justice Department officials who the Trump administration considers an enemy.
Those demoted include a prosecutor responsible for all cases from the January 6 incident and at least two militias engaged in the trial of Pride Boys and the Oath Guardians, who know the move, who spoke on anonymous status because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
A week ago, Denise Cheung, the office’s highly regarded chief of criminal division, rejected Mr. Martin and other Justice Department officials’ requests to freeze the assets of government contractors, saying she did not have enough evidence.
On Monday, Mr. Martin announced her backup in an email to employees and outlined his intention to increase his intention to prosecute gun crimes.
