(Reuters) – Intel’s top strategy executive Yeboah-Amankwah will leave the company, the latest change since Lip-Bu Tan seized the helm of chipmakers in March.

Intel confirmed the departure, saying: “We thank SAF for its contribution to Intel and wish him all the best.”

Yeboah-Amankwah, who has served as Intel’s chief strategy officer since 2020, will leave on June 30. Yeboah-Amankwah oversees Intel’s growth plans, strategic partnerships and equity investments, and other responsibilities.

Some of Yeboah-Amankwah’s strategic functions will now fall on Sachin Katti, who recently promoted it to Chief Technology and AI official. Intel Capital, the company’s venture capital arm, said one of the two and a third source briefed the matter.

Tan is a prolific investor and founded Walden International, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm, in 1987.

As Intel CEO, Tan has so far flattened the semiconductor giant’s leadership team and directly oversees its important data center and AI chipsets, as well as its personal computer chipsets. He brought in new engineering leaders.

He also aims to cut down what he thinks is Intel’s swollen, slowly moving middle management.

Tan’s move comes as Intel’s years of challenges in manufacturing challenges, as well as the lost opportunity for mobile phones and AI chips. Reuters reported that his predecessor, Pat Gelsinger, was trying to turn an ambitious turnaround, even though he exacerbated some of Intel’s problems.

Intel reported the company’s annual net loss (the first loss since 1986) to $18.8 billion in 2024.
