Metrolink train and semi-collision on Moorpark, killing the driver of the truck

Authorities said a semi-noble collided with a metropolitan train in the agricultural area of Moore Park on Wednesday afternoon, killing the truck driver and rushing a train passenger to the hospital.
Metrolink train 118 hit a truck and trailer on a cross near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Montair Drive, according to a Metrolink spokesman. The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene and one of the 11 passengers on the train was taken to a local hospital for treatment for unknown conditions, a spokesman said.
A passenger on a Metrolink train was taken to the hospital after the collision.

The truck suffered severe damage during the collision. Fire Department spokesman Andy Vansciver said part of the vehicle was pushed to a third of the mile on the track. On the tracks after the collision, all five trains and engines remained upright.
The cause of the accident is currently unknown. Vansciver said train intersections on agricultural land in Ventura County are usually marked with stop signs and signs directing drivers to look in two ways.
Due to the collision, the Metrolink service running regularly to Ventura East Station runs only to Moore Park. Metrolink is working to provide alternative shipping and Uber vouchers for affected customers Wednesday afternoon, and they can call their customer hotline at (800) 371-5465 for assistance.
