Prosecution and defense rest; COMBS confirms decision not to testify
After graphic witness of nearly thirty witnesses, including ex-girlfriend, former assistant, hotel staff, law enforcement officers, male escorts and a rival rapper, the sex trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” comb is coming to an end.
Prosecutors took the case Tuesday afternoon after the 34th and last witness, with Joseph Cerciello, a special agent for the Homeland Security Investigation, ending his third day on the stance.
Less than two hours later, the defense rested and did not call any witnesses (including the defendant) to the booth. Combs confirmed to the court that this was his decision not to testify.
“It was totally my decision,” Combs told Judge Allen Subania.
The ending argument is scheduled for Thursday, followed by a jury deliberation.
Federal prosecutors said comb abuse, threatening and forcing women to participate in a marathon encounter with drug-powered power, called “freaks” and used his business empire as well as guns, kidnapping and arson to cover up his crimes. His lawyer argued that the encounter was voluntary and Combs denied any misconduct.
The 55-year-old hip-hop dancer faces five counts of crimes: one beating conspiracy, two counts of sexual trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and two counts of traffic crimes in prostitution. If convicted, he can face life in prison.

Combs confirms that he decided not to testify because the defense did not call any witnesses

After submitting some exhibits to evidence, the defense rested without calling any witnesses.
After a decision brought to the court by defense attorney Marc Agnifilo, Subramanian turned to the comb to ask how he felt.
Combs said: “I did a great job, thank you for your honor.
“Did you decide not to testify?” Subramanian asked the comb.
“It’s my decision, it’s totally mine,” Coms said, adding that he and his attorney have discussed “completely.”
The special agent said the comb appeared in a sexually explicit “freak” video.

Cerciello, a summary witness to the prosecution, testified about the evidence collected by law enforcement during the investigation, including phone records, text messages and videos of “freak discounts.”
Cerciello said Combs appeared in 50 explicit videos collected by federal agents.
The jury wore headphones as it looked at the footage that was invisible to other courts on the screen.
It is not clear whether the comb seen by the jury is in the editing.
Large picture: While the clear video is a key part of the government’s speech, the defense also played “weird” videos for the jury, presumably to prove that the encounter was agreed.
Comb leaves an emergency voicemail for his chief of staff saying he runs out of baby oil
The Sean “Diddy” comb watch was a text message between him and his former chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, which was shown in court on Monday. (Jane Rosenberg/Reuters)
The jury saw the text message and heard voicemails combing his hair left to the staff, requesting that it included Cialis, Astroglide, Astroglide, Coconut Water, and even vegetable soup.
In a November 2021 voice message, Combs was heard telling his Chief of Staff Kristina Khorram that he was not in baby oil, one of the preferred lubricants he used in “Freak offs.”
“I can’t believe I’m going out,” Combs told Hallland in a voicemail.
Later, Khorram assured the comb that he would soon leave the fresh delivery outside his door.
Similar text messages about supplemental lubricants between the comb and Khorram were also shown in court.
Large picture: Federal agents attacked “more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant” in the FBI’s Combs homes in Miami and Los Angeles, according to the indictment. Photos taken from the FBI’s March 2024 attack on Combs’ Los Angeles house showed him retaining 200 bottles of baby oil in a cabinet, drawer, and a moisture-controlled box similar to the thin layer of cigars is noticeable.
Comb asks cowboy 4 angels not to increase his speed because he is a long-term client

Cerciello was in the stands, the evidence of texting included communication with a male escort agency, the cowboy 4-day angel and a comb representative, who asked the company not to raise his rates because he was a long-term client.
Combs wrote in a chat with a Cowboy 4 Angel Representative named Bridget on September 26, 2023: “Stop raising my rates, I’m a long timer.” Combs said it was OK and asked a escort named Cody to come to the Trump International Hotel and Tower in New York at 1 a.m.
In another exchange, Bridget sent a message to the comb saying there was a mistake in the cash payment and he owed $600.
“Lol, he can’t even perform,” Combs replied.
The agent told COMBS that the cost is based on time rather than service. “Whether you are diving or dancing, you pay for his time,” she wrote.
Large picture: Under cross-examination, Cerciello testified that some of the fees and invoices related to the collected “freaks” as evidence, including flights and hotel accommodation for male escorts, were listed as Combs paid in person, which weakened the allegations of prosecutors that the comb used his business empire to promote their business empire.
What did some major witnesses say in their testimony
Combs’ ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura testified on May 16 (Jane Rosenberg/Reuters)
Here are some key figures who testified to the government and what they said earlier in the trial.
-
Cassie Ventura: Ventura told the court that her more than a decade of relationships often characterized by violence and physical abuse, detailing drug-driven “freak discounts” that will take several days to recover. Jurors were also shown surveillance videos from 2016, in which they hit a comb, kicked and dragged Ventura in the corridors of the Los Angeles hotel. The defense team posted hundreds of text messages between Ventura and the comb throughout the relationship to show that Ventura was a consent participant in the “freak discount” and sometimes even planned on its own.
-
Eddy Garcia: Garcia testified that the comb paid $100,000 in cash with a brown paper bag, and also led him to sign a non-disclosure agreement in exchange for surveillance videos. “Eddie, my angel, I know you can help.”
-
“Mia”: A former assistant testified under a pseudonym, describing a painfully “toxic” working environment dominated by Combs’ “unpredictable and terrible behavior” telling the court that he had violated her body and sexually for multiple physical and sexual assaults. She also said he threatened to tell Ventura to sleep together.
-
“simple”: Another ex-girlfriend and the alleged comb testified under a pseudonym, tearfully narrating the painful sex she knew about “hotel night” – telling the court that she felt obliged to “show” the comb’s sexual act because he was paying rent. She also testified about a brutal attack she suffered before Coms ordered her to cover up her injuries and brought ecstasy to the improvised “hotel night.” But despite alleged abuse, Jane said she still likes the comb and she thinks she may have been watching her sex with other men to explore bisexuality.
“Jane” tells a sex worker that she longs for another “freak” in the text displayed by the jury
Combs testified on June 9 with “Jane”. (Jane Rosenberg/Reuters)
During cross-examination, the text presented to the jury includes Jane, various information between male escorts and combs.
Among some of them, she seems to be helping the comb coordinate “freak” or “hotel night”. In other cases, she sent a warm message to the male escorts who had sex with her.
“You’re such a sweetheart,” Jane wrote to one of the escorts after one of their encounters. “Thank you for making me feel beautiful.”
In another exchange, Jane tells a sex worker that their members are “a book” from the night before and she desires another.
“Damn baby, you made me hot.” “You want to come back tonight or TMW in the morning.”[?]transparent
In a text message conversation in September 2023, Jane introduced a “hotel night” trip arrangement for a male escort, Jane told Combs: “I like it’s kink for you.”
Large picture: The defense continued to highlight that the women allegedly “abuse, threatened and forced” seemed happy and willing to participate in the “Freak Discount.”
What’s next
Subramanian said he will call a so-called allegation meeting on Wednesday, or a meeting between a judge and a lawyer, to finalize the jury’s instructions.
The ending argument will take place on Thursday. The prosecutor and defense attorney attorneys told Subramanian they hope their summary will take about four hours to complete.
Jury deliberations will begin Thursday or Friday.
