Patreon will raise fees to new creators this summer

After August 4, the creator built a paid membership page on Patreon and had to pay 10% of its revenue under the platform’s new standard plan. While Patreon currently offers the Pro and Premium programs, which hold 8% and 12% of creator revenue, respectively, it combines the two into a single option. The price increase is only available to creators who publish new pages. Patreon said it will continue to offer lower career rates to anyone who locks it up by August 4.

Once that changes happen, things will also become cheaper for creators operating under the Premium (12%) program. Premium creators will not continue to pay 12% of the fee, but will instead move to a custom “Pro + Merch” plan, which will receive 11% of the fee. If they delete the item option, the fee will drop to 8%.

Patreon also said it is increasing the amount of free storage available to creators using Patreon videos. While it has previously said it will offer up to 100 hours of video throughout the account’s lifetime and charge any fees for it, Patreon now says it will offer 100 hours of videos a month for free later this summer. The move comes shortly after the platform makes fun of new tools (including built-in live streaming features, live video). Patreon started live video testing of featured creators this spring and plans to launch in the summer.
