Germany holds First Veterans Day for all military personnel

The active and former soldiers of the German armed forces will receive honors on Sunday’s service for the first time with a full-fledged Veterans Day.

The central event will be held in Berlin under the sponsorship of Julia Klöckner around the parliamentary building of the Parliament, just as the lawmakers decided a year ago.

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius will also participate with soldiers and members of the public, which will be celebrated in many cities and at the Bondswell base in Germany.

Although the June 15 date was officially established a year ago, this Sunday will be the first major version.

“Dresswell is an integral part of our society. The men and women who serve or serve deserve our gratitude, our recognition and our respect. This service to our country is at the heart of our society,” X.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, more attention has been raised to German troops, putting some stigma associated with the country’s participation in the two world wars.

Over the past 25 years, including Germany’s participation in NATO and the United Nations mission, including in Afghanistan, 59 members of Bondsville were killed between 2001 and 2021.

After years of discussion, Germany has chosen the broadest term of office.

Since 1955 alone, the current and former soldiers of the German Federal Republic Armed Forces have been considered veterans as long as they retire with honor.

About 10 million Germans have completed military service or professional or ordinary soldiers. About 500,000 people and women are deployed in Afghanistan, Mali or Bosnia-Herzegovina.

“Our veterans have won the support, recognition and respect of all of us,” Klöckner said before that.
