How is chess players ranking

There are two main systems in the chess ranking: the ELO system and the Glicko system. According to Chess.com using the latter method, ranking “represents your game power” and using statistics for calculations.

In the ELO system used by FIDE, the chances of one player defeating another player are calculated as percentages.

For example, Player A has a 60% chance of defeating Player B. If Player B wins six of 10 games, B’s ranking will remain the same. If Player B wins seven or more games, Player B’s ranking will rise. If Player B wins 5 games or fewer, Player B’s ranking will drop.

Chess.com says that using more complex recipes, the Glicko system is more complex and built on the ELO system.
