TP Solar Wins US$72M in Solar Module Contract in India

TP Solar, a subsidiary of TATA Power Reenwable Energy, receives a contract to supply 292.5 megawatt peak (MWP) DCR [domestic content requirement] Solar modules from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

The Rs 630 crore (USD 72.4 million) contract is part of the SECI 400MWP tender and supports the renewable energy transition in India.

The project will enable TP Solar to provide high-quality DCR modules to Ramagiri, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Successful bids highlight TP Solar’s manufacturing capabilities and are consistent with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat in India [self-reliant India] Vision is achieved by facilitating locally manufactured solar modules.

The project’s preferred delivery schedule spans from October 2025 to January 2026.

The program contributes to India’s clean energy transition and supports large solar facilities across the country.

Sivakumar, Director of Seci Power System, v. Vepakomma, said: “The CPSU program is a key initiative to enhance domestic solar manufacturing and enhance energy security in India. By awarding this contract to TP Solar, we are taking an important step towards promoting self-reliance in the solar sector and ensuring large-scale renewable projects are powered by high-quality local manufacturing modules.

“Tata Power Renewables’ expertise and commitment to excellence are linked to our vision to accelerate the transition to clean energy in India while promoting indigenous manufacturing. The project will contribute to the country’s renewable energy goals, create economic opportunities and support the long-term sustainability of the solar industry.”

Tata Power Company has a diversified portfolio of 15.6GW, spanning the entire power chain from renewable and traditional energy generation to transmission, distribution, transaction, storage solutions, and solar cell and module manufacturing.

In related developments, Tata Power Renewable Energy recently announced a partnership with oil and gas companies to explore opportunities in the value chain of battery energy storage systems.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is designed to enhance India’s energy security through renewable energy integration and advanced storage solutions.
