Boy caring for sex offender dad’s attention
A young boy will be cared for after a judge finds his mother unable to protect him from the father of the sex offender.
Slough’s children first brought the case to court because they were found sexually abused with the boy in 2021 due to concerns over their father’s connection.
The boy’s two siblings, including the girl, were cared for after she claimed her father had often abused her.
The father was sentenced to two years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman. The judge at the Slaughter Family Court found that the boy’s mother was unwilling or unable to protect the boy.
The assessment found that the mother’s IQ was within the “very low range” and ranked in 0.5 percentiles.
A written agreement prohibited the father from visiting his mother’s home, but found he had been there several times within seven months.
The boy has a large speech and language delay and is being evaluated for autism.
Richard Case found Thursday that removing a boy from his mother’s care would cause harm “but the harm is less than the risk of mother’s care.”
The father told social workers that “the child may be at fault for sexual abuse” and continued to deny the accuracy of his discovery and conviction.
The judge found that the mother was reluctant or unable to take risks of sexual abuse awareness work or denying her father.
The judge said: “It should be [the boy] To read this judgment in due time, I hope he realizes that his mother loves him so much and fights for him to stay in her care.
“But sadly, her limitations are largely not her own limitations, which means it is impossible to stay in her care for welfare reasons.”
