Ukraine evacuates Sumi’s area before the expected Russian attack
Ukrainian authorities said on Tuesday that they have begun evacuating more than 200 locations in the Sumi area near the border with Russia.
Sumi Military Governor Oleh Hryhorov said on Ukrainian TV on Tuesday that 52,000 people have been safely safe so far. He said this accounted for 60% of the total 86,000 civilians evacuated in settlements.
“We ensure transportation, accommodation and humanitarian, financial and psychological assistance,” Hryhorov said. He did not specify when the evacuation was expected.
The Sumy area has become the site of massive Russian attacks. Military experts believe that Sumy is one of the targets of Moscow’s expected summer offensive.
Last weekend, the Russian military attacked a minibus with a drone that could have brought Ukrainian civilians to the safe town of Bilopilia in the Sumi area. Nine people died.
Russia says 20,000 naturalized citizens are sent to the front line
Russian authorities said on Tuesday that after granting Ukraine citizenship, they sent about 20,000 immigrants to fight Ukraine in the war.
Military investigators often conduct raids in search of new naturalized men who do not want to register with the military, said Alexander Bastrykin, head of the inquiry committee.
He added: “We have selected 80,000 people and registered military service, of which 20,000 young Russian citizens do not like to live in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan, and they are already on the frontline.”
More than 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia remained the destination of many immigrants, especially from the former Soviet Republic of Central Asia.
In the countries mentioned by Bastrykin, the standard of living is significantly lower than that of Russia and lacks work, so many young people as guests and then try to obtain Russian citizenship.
The Kremlin also relies on economic incentives to attract volunteers to the frontlines, especially in poverty-stricken areas in Russia.
In addition, soldiers loyal to Kremlin ally North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un have been deployed in recent months to recapture parts of the western Kursk region.
Citizens from other countries such as China, India, Cuba, Senegal and Togo are also regularly reported.
