Netanyahu says allies cannot tolerate “mass famine”

The death toll rises Gaza Strip In the Palestinian territory, growing voices protested, putting pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept a ceasefire negotiated with Hamas and abandoning his country’s nearly entire blockade of the enclave. Gaza’s Hamas Health Ministry said on Tuesday that at least 87 people have been killed by Israeli military strikes in the past 24 hours alone.
The Israel Defense Forces have Gaza’s actions have increased Last week, the Netanyahu government insisted it was legal self-defense, killing hundreds of people, many of whom were women and children, aiming to ensure a return completely 58 hostages Still held by Hamas and its allies in Gaza and destroyed the group. Israel blames Hamas on the United States, Israel and the EU for a long time designated a terrorist organization – for all casualties in Gaza, accusing actions in and around civilian infrastructure.
On Monday, for the first time in two and a half months, Netanyahu allowed a few trucks to bring aid into Gaza. He said that allies who could not tolerate “image of mass famine” were forced to relieve the pressure on the lockdown.

There were unconfirmed reports on Tuesday that as many as 100 trucks were allowed to cross the Gaza border. But the UN World Food Program said this week that several of these trucks only fell in barrels given Gaza’s huge and desperate need for food, where more than two million Palestinians were trapped for more than two years of war.
Thousands of trucks have been lined up for weeks under Israel’s lockdown, waiting to cross the Gaza border and wait to cross. Antoine Renard, WFP’s Palestinian Territory Director, said hunger was so prevalent that mature famine once again caused stalking the Gaza population.
“you I know that an estimated 14,000 children are facing what we call severe acute malnutrition,” he told CBS News on Monday, meaning these children may die without rapid intervention. But when the famine continues, it is too late. That will be a failure for all international communities.”

Until this week, the Israeli government insisted that Gaza has no food shortage. But this is the first time in a message posted on social media on Monday, Netanyahu admitted that a hunger crisis is about to occur in Gaza.
“We know enthusiastic supporters of Israel, and I know the senators we know over the years came to me and told me, ‘We provide you with all the support for the ultimate victory – weapons, weapons, support for the destruction of Hamas, support for the support of the UN Security Council. We cannot tolerate a massive famine. This is something we cannot support.”
Due to this pressure, he allowed Gaza to have limited assistance.
Renard said WFP had enough standby food to be ready to enter to feed the entire Gaza population for a month.
“It must stop,” he said of the Israeli lockdown. “It should not be captured by civilians. In fact, there is no reason to hold them accountable for what they do not belong to.”
Netanyahu has not listed any claims of countries that have put pressure on the government to alleviate the lockdown, and while Israel’s closest and most important allies are almost certainly the countries he mentioned when referring to long-time friendly senators, not only the United States calls for a solution to the crisis, but other countries and others have been doing more leniently.
In a strongly worded statement released on Monday, leaders in Britain, France and Canada called what Gaza could not bear in terms of human suffering, and they threatened to take action.
“The Israeli government denies that basic humanitarian assistance to civilians is unacceptable and has the potential to violate international humanitarian law,” the countries said in a joint statement. “We oppose any attempt to expand settlements in the West Bank … we will not hesitate to take further action, including targeted sanctions.”
Netanyahu condemned the threat and said in a statement: “Ask Israel to end a defensive war for our survival before the Hamas terrorists on the border are destroyed and demand that leaders of a Palestinian state, London, Ottawa and Paris offer a huge reward for the attacks on Israel on October 7 while inviting Israel to recruit more of such attacks.”
“If the remaining hostages are released, Hamas is lying on weapons, the murder leader is exiled, and Gaza is demilitarized,” the Israeli leader said. “No country can accept anything, and Israel certainly will not. It is a civilized war about barbarism. Israel will continue to use means until it achieves a comprehensive victory.”
According to Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry, the war in Israel escalated into a new offensive, killing nearly 600 people last week.
Doctors exhausted supplies – barely able to treat malnutritional children, not to mention the hundreds of people injured on strike every day in Israel.
On October 7, 2023, a terrorist attack led by Hamas triggered the war in Gaza, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and leaving 251 people as hostages in Gaza. According to Gaza’s Hamas-Operational Ministry of Operations, Israel’s retaliatory war destroyed a large swathe of Gaza, with 90% of its population displaced (most of which were multiple times) and killed more than 53,500 Palestinians.
