Houthi missiles escape Israeli defense, strike near Tel Aviv airport

On Sunday, a Houthi missile hit Israeli soil near Tel Aviv’s largest airport, causing several international airlines to cancel flights to Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to retaliate against Sunday’s attack and will attend several defense meetings throughout the day. According to Israeli media reports, the missile was reportedly evading the defense of Israeli and US missiles.

“Whoever hurts us, we will kill seven times,” Defense Minister Katz said.

Lufthansa, Switzerland and Europa are among the airlines that cancel flights to Israel, although they hope to resume services on Monday.

There are no reports of injuries to the missile strike and Israel has not confirmed any specific military retaliation.

Last weekend, the Israeli Air Force said that in the Gaza Strip it constituted more than 100 terrorist targets, including terrorists, tunnels, underground infrastructure and other military structures.

The missile strike comes days after Israel was forced to cancel its Independence Day celebrations.

On Wednesday, huge wildfires broke out near Jerusalem, forcing closed roads and massive evacuations to paralyze the country. Traditionally, Israel celebrates its independence through torch rituals. Instead, it plays footage of the rehearsal ceremony.

Jerusalem Regional Fire Department Commander Shmulik Friedman told the press Wednesday that the wildfires could be “the biggest fire ever” and warned that strong winds could exacerbate the fire later that day. He also warned that Israel is “far from control.”
