Houses in California caught fire after a small plane crashed nearby

At least one person died and two homes were severely damaged after a small plane crashed near California on Saturday afternoon.
Ventura County Fire Department officials confirmed that a small single-engine fixed-wing aircraft crashed into two homes on the 200 block of High Meadow Street in Wood Ranch.

According to a fire department press release, preliminary reports indicate that a person on the plane died.
The person has not been publicly identified.
When the disaster occurred, residents were all in two houses and were evacuated without injuries.

According to the fire department, the two-story single-family home was burned and structurally damaged.
As of 4:30 pm local time, the fire was knocked down and staff were overhauling and salvage operations.

There were about 40 firefighters at the scene and were in charge with the Simi Valley Police Department.
Officials have not released the preliminary cause of the crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
