Some married women across the United States share that they have been facing unexpected obstacles as the May 7 deadline approaches to obtain documents for domestic flights.
The general barrier between them is to prove that their names do not have their original marriage certificate because of marriage, and the need to verify this change.
For example, for Dorothy Ballone of Rochester, New York, it has become a logistics nightmare. She told Fox News Digital this week that she has been trying to get her original marriage certificate from 67 years ago.

The non-contender has been working since February, since her first trip to the New York Automobile Department.
“I found all the documents I need online, my social security [card]my birth certificate. “There are a few things to say about where you live, such as your utility bill and bank statements, something similar, and your marriage certificate,” Ballone said.

“I have more documents than I do.”
She arrived at the DMV on August 19, 1958 and obtained a copy of her marriage license and was certified that the document was an accurate copy of the original, with stamps from the notarized public and all applicable information.
“I put all the documents on the counter, [a clerk] Withdrew the marriage license and said, “I can’t accept it.” I said, “Why not?” She said, “This is a copy.” I said, “This is what I have.” She said, “No, I need the original.” ” Ballone told Fox News Digital.
She chased wildly to try to get her original marriage certificate.
Ballone said she was told to go to her church to get the original work.
Ballone reached out to the church in East Rochester where she married and was told that the church had no marriage license to trace back so far.

Then, as she tried to obtain the original marriage permit, she continued to chase the wild goose, contacting the local clerk’s offices, government officials, and even the parish of Rochester.
The city of Rochester eventually claimed to have the original marriage certificate-and mailed it.

She said the documents she received were certified, but Ballone was once again denied the real ID.
She told Fox News Digital that she had been in touch with local congresswomen and assistant commissioner of the New York Department of Automobile.

Ballone said that even though she has lived under a married name for decades and has a driver’s license with a married name, the state continues to deny her real ID application until she provides formal marriage documents.
They heard from DMV officials that it has become a problem.

Fox News Digital spoke with travelers this week at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. to get their thoughts on the actual ID process for just one week on May 7.
Alicia of Minneapolis, Minnesota told Fox News Digital that she has also been getting her real ID card due to her name change.
