European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa congratulated Prime Minister Mark Carney on winning the Canadian parliamentary elections.
“The bond between Europe and Canada is strong and is becoming stronger,” X wrote on Tuesday.
“We will defend our shared democratic values, promote multilateralism, and be free and fair trade,” she added.
Costa on X wrote: “The EU and Canada have a long-term and close partnership. We are allies and strong trading partners.” He added that the EU and Canada share the same values.
