January, Yuan Announces its standalone video editing application for making reels, referred to as Editing for short. After the release delay, users anywhere in the world can now download the app and try it out.
The new video creation tool is obviously inspired by the success of Bytedance-like Tiktok’s Capcut-like application, which is specifically designed to simplify editing of vertical clips. Reels Feed, which Instagram’s algorithm-selected editing, was launched five years ago, and directly responded to Tiktok’s expanding influence at the time. Yuan never shys away from its tendency to imitate. The company tends to adopt the buzz software features of other applications by building the same functionality in its platform. So creator-centric tool editing makes it easier to pump out social videos, which is a no surprise version designed to keep the competition pace.

How to create an app using editing, Instagram videos
Editing apps are now available for download on Apple and Android phones. After you open the edit on your phone for the first time, you will need to log in to the app using your Instagram account, which is frustrating but not shocking. Again, the purpose of the app is not to abstractly stimulate video creation. Instead, it is a tool specifically designed to help people provide content for posting on reels.
Once you log in, you will see five tabs at the bottom of the app. On the left is idea Tab. You don’t need to have Tiktok’s blocking experience to master editing, although those familiar with existing editing vertical video tools will immediately recognize most of this user interface: the editing schedule in the middle, and the various tools at the bottom. You can add music clips through “Audio” or tap “Voice” to adjust the sound of the video to record the dubbing. Here you can also add text, stickers, and image overlays in video creation. If you are viewing a schedule for the project to upload videos, make a brief tap on a single clip in the schedule and move the edges inward to crop. Want to try a different editing order? How is editing different from Capcut?
Although the purpose of the two apps is almost the same, there are some key differences between Meta’s Instagram’s editing app and Tiktok’s bytedance capptu app. Mainly, the editing is more streamlined, at least for the moment there is no clutter. There is no subscription option in editing to unlock additional features, but that’s the case with Capcut, although Meta can add subscription layers in editing in the future. There are also no large number of AI-driven editing tools in editing, although these tools can be added later, although these edits certainly have one.
Initially, editing is easier as an application, but Picky Creators may find Capcut’s other video editing options to make their level of control over the final product more fine-tuned.
