German Foreign Minister’s Inauguration Visit to Kiev

Since taking office last month, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has been to Kiev on his first visit to the Ukrainian capital.

The trip lasted until Monday morning before arriving, with Waldepo travelling to Kiev with German arms representatives.

Germany is one of Ukraine’s major suppliers of military equipment, weapons and economic aid as the country continues to resist the current fourth year of full-scale invasion.

Wadephul plans to hold talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and pay tribute to the 1941 Babyn Yar Massacre, where Nazi occupation forces murdered more than 33,000 Jews, women, women and children on the outer skin of the city.

According to the German Foreign Ministry, high-level discussions between German business leaders and Ukrainian officials were also planned.

Wadephul had previously visited Ukraine on May 9, a few days after taking office, when he attended an informal meeting of the EU Foreign Minister in the western city of Lviv.
