About 800,000 people participated in this year’s Pride Parade in Mexico City.

The city government said on Sunday it was a “historic vote” for the LGBTQI+ community celebration.

On Saturday afternoon, participants marched in the city center for several hours. They demonstrate discrimination, social exclusion and violence based on sexual orientation.

This is the 47th annual parade in Mexico City, this time with the motto of “Borderlessness, Justice, Resistance and Unity”.

The English abbreviation LGBTQI+ stands for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals, queer and bisexuals – plus symbols are placeholders for other identities and genders.

According to a network report without violence, Mexico is Mexico’s second most dangerous country after Latin America in 2024.

There were 80 cases, and deadly violence in Mexico increased by 23% year-on-year. The report says that in Latin America and the Caribbean, at least one LGBTQI+ person is murdered every 24 hours.
