U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts warned that politicians were in a fierce danger of the judge’s remarks on Saturday.
“It’s caught up in a political dispute that doing his or her work is part of the problem,” Roberts said in the 4th Circuit Judicial Meeting.
“Of course the danger may be someone might accept it. Of course, we are just being seriously threatened by violence and murder of judges just to do their job.
Roberts didn’t name anyone, but it seems to refer to President Donald Trump and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said he felt forced to oppose the past remarks of Democrats and Republicans.

Over the years, Trump has criticized the judges repeatedly, including calling for impeachment on the judge who ruled out deportation policy earlier this year, calling him a “radical left” and a “madman.”
Roberts replied at the time: “For more than two centuries, it has been determined that impeachment is an appropriate response to differences regarding judicial decisions. There is a normal appeal review process for this purpose.”
In 2020, Roberts condemned Schumer that Trump-appointed Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch “paid the price” in Trump’s first term in the abortion rights case.

“You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price,” Schumer said at a rally outside the Supreme Court at the time. “If you make these horrible decisions, you won’t know what’s hitting you.”
Schumer later said he was referring to the political price he believed Senate Republicans would pay, but said: “I shouldn’t use what I did, but it’s by no means a threat. I’ve never done anything like this.

Roberts said of Schumer at the time: “The Justice knew that criticism was related to the territory, but this threatening statement from the Supreme Government was not only inappropriate, but dangerous. All members of the court will continue to do their work without fear or preference, starting from any quarter.”

In April, an armed man was arrested outside his Kavanaugh home and pleaded guilty to those who tried to assassinate justice.
Roberts’ remarks came after the Supreme Court issued a final decision on his term, and through a court order on Friday limited the judge’s ability to block his agenda, which gave the Trump administration a victory.
