Getty Villa reopened for the first time since the devastating Palisades fire in January. The museum will debut its new exhibition after nearly six months without tourists. The villa has been closed since the Palisades fire burned in the surrounding area on January 7. The museum itself did not take any damage in the fire – but, the ground did. Since then, staff have been working hard to repair the losses to the ground as soon as possible. To reopen, the villa made its debut in its latest exhibition, “The Kingdom of Pylos,” which contains 230 works of Mason’s art and artifacts. I saw many works for the first time in the United States. The reopening on Friday is expected to bring crowds, and the villa’s operating hours will be limited: Friday to Monday from 10pm to 5pm.

Since the Palisades fire last January, visitors have explored Getty Villa in the Pacific Palisades at the reopening museum.
