Oslo police announce rape and sexual assault charges against Norwegian crown prince’s son

Oslo, Norway (AP) – Oslo police announced Friday the lawsuit against Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of the Norwegian Crown Princess, which included rape, sexual assault and physical harm, after a month of investigation involving a “double number” of victims.

Høiby, the son of Princess Met Marit and step-son of the heir to the throne, Crowch Haakon, has been under review for rape and preliminary charges of personal injury and criminal injury since he was repeatedly guilty in 2024.

Oslo police attorney Andreas Kruszewski said Høiby was collaborative during police inquiry, which was done. Police lawyers say the evidence in the case was derived from sources including textual slogans, witness testimony and police searches.

Kruszewksi said at a press conference that the allegations included one rape case, including sexual intercourse and two rape cases, no sexual intercourse, four sexual assault cases and two personal injury cases.

“I can’t go into the number of victims further, except confirming that this is a double-digit number,” he said.

Defence attorney Petar Sekulic said in an email to the Associated Press that Hobby “takes the allegations absolutely seriously but does not admit any misconduct in most cases, especially in cases of sexual abuse and violence.”

The Palace did not immediately respond to an AP’s email request for comment.

The case is the main news in Norway, where royals are popular.

According to Sekulic, Høiby, 28, had lived with the royal couple and their two children (Princess Ingrid Alexandra) and Prince Sverre Magnus, but now lives in another nearby house.

Høiby remained free until a possible trial and was entitled to the presumption of innocence until the court otherwise.

The future Queen of Norway made headlines when she got married in 2001 because she was a single mother who lived freely with a companion who was convicted of drug charges.
