Moderate House Democrats from New York are criticizing New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s presumptive Democratic candidate.

“Socialist Zohran Mamdani is too extreme to lead New York City. His entire campaign is based on unfulfilled commitments and higher taxes, and that’s the last thing in New York.”

“Other than that, Mr. Mamdani called for funding to the police and showed an unsettling pattern of disturbing anti-Semitism, a hatred that was an absolute wrong choice for New York at a time when anti-Semitism soared.”

It was the first overturn of a Democratic official to Mandani’s amazing victory in the first round of the first vote in New York City.

Mamdani surpassed former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the first round, winning 43.5% of the vote compared to Cuomo’s 36.4%.

Cuomo announced he would withdraw from the primary but left an open question of whether he would join current New York City Mayor Eric Adams as an independent in the game.

The former governor’s own problems include allegations of sexual harassment set out during the Albany period, telling Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo that he did not rule out reappearance in November.

“Congressman Mamdani has carried out a powerful campaign to focus ruthlessly on the economy and reduce the high cost of living in New York City,” Jeffries’ statement said.
