Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Rs.D. He said he was willing to keep the Senate on Capitol Hill on weekends and holidays, and even rolled into the current Senate “Big Beautiful Bill” in the July 4 lounge, even when necessary.

“It’s obviously a top priority for the president,” Thun said on Fox News Sunday this weekend.

“This is an agenda that we all are committed to and we will enter the July 4 recess if necessary to get that at the president’s desk.”

Republicans support the bill’s annoyance that Trump-backed measures won’t arrive at the president’s desk on the July 4 holiday. Texas Senator Ted Cruz is doubtful.

While solving the problem, Thune told Shannon Bream of Fox News with confidence: “It will be done.”

South Dakota Republicans have also spoken to people within their own party, reluctant to provide “yes” for “big bills” and cited some concerns that could lead to a deficit.

On the one hand, the bill contains “growth” policies – essentially taxes, energy and regulation, Thune said. On the other hand, the bill will reduce a lot of spending, he said.

“It will be the biggest spending in history,” he said.

“You’re talking about more than a trillion dollars, half, half, up to $2 trillion. We’re going to see where we end up in the Senate, but that’s going to be a big reduction in spending, coupled with reforms to plans to get rid of waste, fraud and abuse, and then a decrease in growth policies on the other side.”

“You’re getting bigger economically, you’re getting more income here, spending less money here, and soon you can start to see things balanced…but you have to start somewhere, and that’s what the bill does.”
