Washington, D.C. Airport says flights are suspended during Trump’s Army parade
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Washington’s Reagan National Airport announced Thursday that the Federal Aviation Administration may suspend flights during the June 14 Army anniversary parade by U.S. President Donald Trump.
“To accommodate the airplane overpass for the parade route, followed by a fireworks display, the Federal Aviation Administration is expected to suspend DCA’s airline operations, affecting scheduled flights,” a notice on the airport’s website said.
The airport is less than two miles from the National Mall and can be closed for up to four hours, according to the Washington Post.
The long-term celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army will be in line with the president’s 79th birthday.
67 people were killed when a helicopter collided with an American Airlines jet in January and crashed into the Potomac River. This is the deadliest aerial disaster in the United States in more than 20 years.
