Zenimax and Microsoft approve union agreement
Members of the Zenimax Workers United-CWA Alliance approved a contract agreement with parent company Microsoft. The agreement with a union representing the quality assurance employees of video game studios marks the first time Microsoft has signed any union contract in the United States. Zenimax Studios may be known for its work Elder Scrolls Online. Stephen Totilo first reported the news. As with many organizational efforts, this step has been a long time. In 2023, employees who will be unionized in 2023, Microsoft immediately endorsed Zenimax Workers United-CWA after the vote. Microsoft has also formulated a neutral policy for organizing unions in Zenimax in 2024.
The contract includes provisions for wage hikes and minimum wages, as well as industry-specific content, such as clearer credit policies, to recognize the role of quality assurance and the role of employees in using AI.
