(Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, aluminum-containing adjuvants are ingredients that have been used in vaccines since the 1930s.
Adjuvants used in certain vaccines help to create a stronger immune response among people receiving the shot.
Aluminum salts are used in pneumococcal conjugate vaccines, such as Pfizer cyclones, HPV vaccines, such as Merck’s Gardasil and Hepatitis C B vaccines.
In all cases, according to the CDC, the safety and effectiveness of a vaccine containing auxiliary was tested in clinical trials before it could be monitored by the CDC and FDA after use and approval in the United States.
Bloomberg reported that discussions about reviewing the vaccine could evolve, citing a source that was not authorized to review publicly.
Kennedy fired all 17 members of the CDC team of vaccine experts in early June, sparking protests from many vaccine scientists.
The Department of Health and Human Services did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
