Xiaomi EV unveils YU7 SUV
Xiaomi EV has launched its first all-electric SUV, the Xiaomi Yu7, expanding the company’s automotive portfolio after its SU7 sedan debut.
YU7 marks Xiaomi’s entry into the SUV segment, with its redesigned model emphasizing performance, space and smart features. It is expected to take over Tesla as a competitor to Model Y.
Yu7 shares the SU7’s design language, but uses a unique SUV profile. It is positioned as a mid-size luxury SUV.
It has a length of 4,999mm, a width of 1,996mm, a height of 1,600mm and a wheelbase of 3,000mm.
There are three variants of YU7: Standard, Pro and Max.
The vehicle features a large flip aluminum cover, the largest in a mass production model, and the front torso offers 141 liters of storage and up to eight open modes.
Design highlights include a vacant “water drop headlight” setting with integrated air channels, and an aerodynamic profile enabled with advanced airflow optimization.
Xiaomi reports that the YU7 standard variant uses a 96.3kWh battery to offer a range of 835km, making it the longest pure electric SUV in the category of 100kWh batteries.
The Pro and Max variants feature a four-wheel drive system that offers a range of 760 km and 770 km, respectively.
SUV launches Xiaomi’s HyperVision Panoramic Display, a mini LED three-screen setup that uses panoramic bending projection technology to project key information into the lower windshield area.
The vehicle also includes a new flush door handle system that is automatically deployed when keys are detected nearby.
Aerodynamic enhancements include ten channels, 19 ventilation points and a movable grille with 100 adjustable shutters.
Xiaomi claims that these ranges have increased significantly compared to the early prototypes, up 59 kilometers.
There are three paint finishes (Emerald Green, Titanium Silver and Lava Orange) available – Xiaomi Yu7 combines high-end design, smart technology and electrical performance as the brand wants to build itself in the premium EV space.
The SUV has a high-spec chassis: double wishbone front, five-link rear suspension, dual-chamber air springs with 75mm adjustability, Brembo brakes and continuous damper control for enhanced comfort and handled on a variety of terrains.
It has a top-notch performance setup led by Hyper Engine V6S Plus, speeding up 0-100 km/h in 3.23 seconds.
The dual-sport system has a top speed of 253 km/h, which outperforms many high-priced competitors.
Hyper Engine V6S Plus uses segmented magnetic steel to reduce energy loss, improve efficiency and extend the range by 4 km.
