Israel regards the ship as a propaganda stunt, calling it a “self-portrait yacht.” Israeli officials said Flotilla is providing “small” assistance to goods that are less than a truck.
The fleet has made it clear that it repeatedly attempted to reach Palestinian territory by ships carrying aid at sea, and that the radicals aimed at raising awareness of the Israeli blockade, as with any food in the enclave.
Since Hamas seized power from rival Palestinian forces in 2007, Israel and Egypt have caused varying degrees of blockade on Gaza. Israel said a lockdown was needed to prevent Hamas from importing weapons, while critics said it amounted to a collective punishment for the Palestinian population of Gaza.
