Can Steam Deck run Elden Ring Nightreign?
Yes, it’s easy. I was able to propeller a few times on the Steam deck and didn’t encounter any slowdowns or other graphics issues while playing. It makes sense that it can handle games because it uses the original Elden Ring engine, which did not limit most computers when it was released in 2022.
However, there is a trap. The Nightreign server requires a certain level of system performance for multiplayer games, and if not satisfied, you will lock into single player mode.
If the game’s performance is when playing Elden Ring Nightreign, you will receive an error message.
To resolve this issue, minimize all graphics settings. Although the game may last for a while, the sudden change in performance of the map or enemies can significantly reduce performance and the game will quit you.
This performance requirement may be due to the game’s anti-idiot technology. Back in February, developer FrofSoftware updated the Nightreign SteamDB page, confirming that the game will include Anticheat software. This may mean that portable gaming devices that do not run Windows, such as Steam Deck or computers that use Linux, may have problems participating in multiplayer matching.
Elden Ring Nightreign will be available on May 30 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles for $40. There is no need to play this game with the original Elden ring.
