The Los Angeles Dodgers did not have star Mookie Betts in the team’s 8-5 victory over the New York Yankees, who reportedly suffered a toe injury and was said to continue walking to the bathroom.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Bates, 32, said he hit his toe against the wall as he walked to the bathroom in the dark.

ESPN said X-rays showed Bates had a fractured toe.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Betts will miss Saturday and Sunday against the Yankees, but he doesn’t expect eight All-Stars to be on the injured roster.

“I’m confident to say this day, but it’s hard for him to wear shoes today,” Roberts said.

Compared to his professional numbers, Bates’ years fell by one year. The 2018 AL MVP hit averaged .254, eight home runs and 31 RBIs and 0.742 OPS in 53 games this season.

Over his 12-year career, Bates has averaged .293 and .891 OPS.

Bates’ freak injury wasn’t the first Dodgers this season. A similar incident occurred at first baseman Freddie Freeman, which made him miss nine games after slipping in the shower and aggravated the surgically repaired right ankle.

“Muki’s toes, as weird as what happened to me,” Freeman said after the Dodgers’ victory. “You’ve encountered speed along the way. We did it last year, and we did it well. Hopefully we can do it again this year.”

The Yankees (35-21) and the Dodgers (35-22) will compete in their three-game series at 7:15 a.m. ET at 7:15 a.m. ET.
