Tennessee lawmakers demand federal investigation into the mayor of Nashville ice policy
A Republican lawmaker in Tennessee called for a federal investigation into Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s handling of U.S. immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) operations, adding that he would not back down.

Specifically, Ogles demanded documents related to the Executive Order 30 Amendment, which he called “a very outrageous directive that Nashville employees and first responders reported directly to the mayor all communications with federal immigration authorities.”
Ogles also said he is asking for any internal discussion or document regarding ICE enforcement actions in Nashville or Davidson County, as well as all letters involving subway employees and affiliated non-governmental organizations (NGOS) involving the arrest or detention of illegal foreigners committed in a city or county.

Ogles shared his announced video with his post.
“We’ve heard: Mayor and murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, sex predators, child traffickers…the list goes on.” “That’s why I always stand on the rule of law and ice rule of law. And I’m not only standing on the ice; I’ll stand on the ice because we people have had enough of it.”
“I chose my community, my country and family over this nonsense, which is why due to Freddy O’Connell’s comments, and the potential to help and teach tonding illegal immigration, the Homeland Security and Judiciary Commission will investigate Nashville’s actions and his actions and whether he has conducted an investigation into the mayor of the city of Nashville and whether he continues to investigate the criminal agents of the criminal. “I will not back down.” I will not relax, I will always stand with law enforcement. I want my community and I want my country to come back. ”

Ogles’ announcement comes 10 days after he sent a letter urging an investigation into O’Connell, with the Trump administration accusing him of supporting “intimacy policy.”
O’Connell’s office did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the matter.
Earlier this month, ICE agents working with the Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested nearly 200 people, who said the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said were illegal immigrants — many of whom were criminals with gang affiliation or other dirty pasts.

The DHS press release targeted comments he made in early May. “It is obvious today that people who do not share our security and community values have the right to cause deep community harm.”
According to WSMV4, O’Connell signed an executive order after the arrest to track people’s interactions with federal immigration authorities.
O’Connell also wrote a letter to the City’s Ice arrest.
“Our priority is to keep people safe, and we are very worried that it seems that federal action makes this more difficult,” O’Connell wrote. “On the end, we learned that U.S. immigration and customs law enforcement officers detained personnel during the Central Tennessee law enforcement operation. As we learn more, I want to be clear: No [Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD)] Personnel participated in last night’s law enforcement action. ”

He added that the city’s police department did not have a federal immigration bureau and had no training in immigration enforcement.
O’Connell also said the police department had no access to the federal immigration database.
“This type of federal law enforcement action is not focused on making us safer and making people in our community concerned about any interaction with law enforcement when a crime occurs,” he added. “We will seek the names of those detainees.”
The Nashville operation led to the arrest of a convicted child sexual predator, who was allegedly a member of the Venezuelan gang violence, a person convicted of aggravated assault and convicted on drug charges, the Department of Homeland Security said.

DHS posted on X: “The mayor of Nashville should want these illegal foreigners who commit crimes to be on the streets of the United States. Attacks and attacks and demonizations of our brave law enforcement officers are wrong. Ice officials are now facing 413% of attacks. President Trump is running for immigration enforcement, Americans voted for, and DHS voted for Americans.”
