Sad mother urges others to avoid drugs abroad
A grieving mother of a woman who died of a drug overdose in Thailand warned people to be warned of drug purchases abroad.
Rebecca Turner, 36, died with her boyfriend in a hotel room in Bangkok on March 15, 2024, from Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, and was found dead with her boyfriend.
A toxicology report found evidence of heroin, codeine, dexesep and trazodone in her blood, and Assistant Coroner Laura Bradford concluded that Ms Turner died of drug-related deaths.
“If a person can see this when he is there; please don’t take anything away, it’s not worth it.”
“I cry every day”
She added: “There are a lot of deaths there due to drug abuse, and for the stuff in these drugs it’s not worth it because it’s the parents sitting there picking up the debris.
“Every day it kills me, every day I cry. I can’t overcome it, no mother will overcome it.”
The mother added that her daughter thought she was taking cocaine but “there was everything else mixed together, which was fatal.”
The investigation heard the 36-year-old took cocaine occasionally and had sought treatment for alcohol problems.

But, her family said she was full of spirit before going to Asia to attend her wedding last year.
Her family described her as a loud and bubble-filled person with infectious laughter and enjoying socializing and traveling.
Assistant Coroner Ms. Bradford said in condolences to Ms. Turner’s family: “I hope you can focus on Rebecca’s life now, not her death.”
