:: Dan Patch, Ghinni Ghinni Resident
“We put them under the bridge and kept them at high points, they were about in the water, standing in the water, and it was still rising… Well, we found the little boy calf. We thought we had lost one in the water. We thought he might have drowned, but obviously he was there.

“These calves are here, they walk on the highway… After the flood receded, we got on, we took them back. They haven’t been fed for two days. So they’re so happy.”
“It’s the worst we’ve ever seen. It’s the worst that everyone has seen around this area.”

“It’s tired. But- I also have chronic fatigue, and it’s after Kuvid… If we keep thinking about all the bad things that are going on, we can’t see good things. I’m glad we found the little boy today. It’s amazing, it’s amazing, it gives the extra energy to keep going.”
The couple was forced to leave cattle and three calves behind in floods in southeast New South Wales last week, which cut off town, swept away livestock and destroyed houses.
Pat told Reuters: “We put them under the bridge and leave them at the high point.
“Well, we found the little boy Mavericks,” Pat said before continuing the interview.
The state emergency services found their other two hand-training calves on the highway. Pat said they were back two days later after the flood receded to feed them.
He also said that the flood was the worst they have ever seen in the area. Authorities estimate that at least 10,000 properties may have been damaged in the flood, which was caused by the days of constant rainfall.
