Netanyahu says offensive targets aim to control security in all Gaza

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that Israel is seeking permanent military control over the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu said that after the current massive offensive in the coastal areas of Palestinian areas, “all territories in the Gaza Strip will be under Israel’s security control.”

The Israeli Prime Minister told reporters in Jerusalem that the Palestinian Islamic Hamas movement will be “completely destroyed.”

Israeli troops recently launched a major offensive in the sealed Gaza Strip, inhabited by about 2 million Palestinians. Ground troops were also involved.

Dozens of deaths have been reported in recent days due to the fight. More than 60 people have been killed since Tuesday night, according to Hamas-controlled Civil Defense Services. These numbers cannot be verified independently.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military called on residents of several communities in the northern Gaza Strip to leave their homes.

A statement from the Army said it was an attack by Hamas in these areas where rockets were fired at Israel, which was distributed through text messages and online platforms.

Such evacuation calls are common and accompanied by Israeli attacks.

A few hours ago, the military reported that militants from the Gaza Strip fired projectiles into southern Israel. It said the projectile was intercepted in the air. The Israeli military later said that before reaching Israeli territory, three more projectiles fell in the Gaza Strip.
