Bird’s Eyes View Captures the Flood Range in Canterbury
A helicopter crew member called for a resident who was transported to New Zealand’s South Island to capture video of the bird’s eye showing the extent of the Canterbury flood.
The video, posted on Facebook by GCH Aviation and was photographed by a paramedic on its ship, shows the roads and fields of Akaroa.
“As rain today closed the road in the Canterbury area, our air rescue helicopter team was called to Akaroa to transport patients safely to Christchurch hospitals,” the source wrote.
New Zealand transport company Waka Kotahi (NZTA) urged locals on Thursday to avoid traveling on the road due to wet weather.
In Friday’s weather update, Metservice said conditions were eased overnight in Canterbury. Credit: GCH Aviation by Story
