Best camera phones in 2025

We test each phone in the real world, focusing on its features, design, performance, camera, battery life and overall value. We documented our findings in the initial review, which will be updated regularly when new software updates are available, or compare them to new phones from competitors like Apple, Samsung, Google and OnePlus.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has largely the same camera hardware as the Z Flip 4. However, the new chip brings some improvements in image processing.

Photography is the main focus of most phones these days, so we take pictures and videos of various themes in a variety of settings and lighting scenes. We try to use any new camera modes, such as Prores Log Video debuting with the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, or the Magic Editor Photo Tool launched with the Google Pixel 8 series.

Battery life

Battery testing is performed in a variety of ways. We evaluate how long the phone lasts during a typical day and notice its performance in more concentrated video calls, media streams, and games. We also conducted video playback tests as a simple, reproducible measure of pure battery life, not always included in the initial comments, but sometimes added in updates.

Performance measurement

We use benchmarking apps to measure the performance of each phone, as well as our own anecdote experience, to review it using the phone. The most notable thing is the appearance of the graphics and animations. Are they smooth? Or do they lag or stutter? We also looked at how fast the phone switched between horizontal and vertical directions, as well as how quickly the camera app was turned on and ready to take a picture.

We perform heavy tasks such as editing photos, exporting videos and playing games. We evaluated whether the newer specific phone version contains enough features to make it worth upgrading from the older models.
