Agents will “strengthen” raids in the city of sanctuary, the acting ICE director said

Exclusive: Todd Lyons, acting director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), said his agency would “gradually” in the sanctuary city if they refuse to work with his agent.

Todd Lyons has sounded on the Trump administration’s massive deportation agenda and a host of other issues, saying Icefield agents will follow criminally illegal immigration, regardless of shelter policy.

“The more they double or triple, we will increase the speed of it,” he told Fox News. “We want to work with you, but if you don’t want to work with the federal government, if you don’t want to work with ICE, then we will make sure we are doing everything we can to bring law enforcement resources to that jurisdiction. We will take care of these public safety threats.”

He added: “If you don’t want to work with us, we will solve this problem.”

However, Lyon did praise California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who recently said his state would work with the ICE.

California shelters do not normally work with immigration authorities, but Newsom said it is willing to work with the agency to recognize the demands of detainees. It’s anger at the Fox News report, telling the story of a convicted illegal immigrant who is due to be released from prison on July 19, six years before his entire sentence.

“I really appreciate the governor,” Lyon said. “When people see exactly the individuals that ICE is dealing with, how can you not use ICE in cases like this?

“We actually saw the details behind this case,” he added. “It’s a common sense approach to working with the ICE to get these public safety threats from here.”

The agency said this week that ICE arrested more than 6,000 illegal immigrants in the first 100 days of the Trump administration. Lyon said the agency will continue to “eliminate the worst”.

“When you expel violent gang members, sex offenders and fentanyl traffickers, anyone can argue with you,” he said. “Ice is there to protect the community, take these public safety threats away from our communities and protect our children.”

When Congress provided ice financing to 10,000 agents, Lyon said the extra money would be “the game-changer.”

“I’ll give you an example. When we were in Boston, we targeted enforcement when we knew these criminal foreigners released from prisons, courts, shelter jurisdictions,” he said. “But when the team was there to carry out this operation, more criminal foreigners were released in real time.”
