Hungry civilians are war crimes
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk warned that important support in the Gaza Strip collapsed completely and said Israel could commit war crimes by starving civilians to death on the coastal areas.
“Any use of civilians as a method of war is a war crime, and so is all forms of collective punishment,” Türk said.
He called on the international community to take action against humanitarian disasters.
Only the court can determine whether a war crime is committed.
Israel has been blocking aid to Gaza since early March, with bakeries running the ovens exhausted from flour and gasoline, while hospitals have used up drugs and materials to treat people’s wounds.
Israel accused the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas of approving funds through force and selling it to civilians at a high price.
Israel said it will not allow any aid supplies until Hamas releases all Israeli hostages. Israeli sources said about 24 hostages are still preserved in coastal areas and the bodies of 35 kidnapped persons.
