French mosque stabbing suspect remains large after killing Muslim worshippers

PACIFICATION (AP) – Authorities say a person suspected of killing Muslim worshippers at a mosque in southern France is still running on Sunday.
Both men were alone in the mosque in the former mining town of Greater Combe, Los Angeles, when the victim was fatally stabbed Friday. Local media said the attacker reportedly recorded his cell phone attack, and security camera footage showed him shouting insults at “Allah,” meaning God was in Arabic.
The Grand Mosque in Paris condemned the attack in a statement and said the victim had just cleaned the mosque when he was killed.
It called on authorities to quickly clarify the cause of the attack, ask the judicial authorities to disclose whether it was considered a “terrorist” act, and point out its “scale and seriousness… for the safety of all.”
Attorney General Gerald Darmanin condemned Saturday’s “meaning murder” that “wounded the hearts of all believers in France’s Muslims.”
Bayrou also condemned a move of “Islamic ignorance shown in the video.”
“We stand side by side with the victim’s family and shocked believers,” he said. “The resources of the state are mobilized to ensure that the murderer is caught and punished.”
The SOS Racism Campaign Group joined the call for a clearer call and said it would participate in a march organized at La Grand Combe later Sunday to support the victims.
