NEW YORK (AP) – Attorneys for music tycoon Diddy’s comb are looking for reasons to delay a sex trafficking trial scheduled to begin within three weeks, a federal prosecutor in New York said Monday.
Prosecutors said the latest version of the indictment against COMBS was 55, adding two new charges this month, but he still didn’t plead for it. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik said it was a possible delay in the routine process of sharing evidence with both parties, called discoveries, which made prosecutors think he might be stagnant.
Since his arrest in September, Combs has been locked up without bail. He once again committed an innocent plea at Monday’s hearing, but kept his attitude in court.
Judge Arun Subramanian told Combs’ attorneys they must request a trial suspension Wednesday so that time can be found.
“We are a freight train,” he said.
Marc Agnifilo, representing the comb, said the defense could request a “very short” recession for two weeks of finding the problem, including the government’s failure to require key witnesses to forward more than 200,000 emails, rather than just asking her to highlight what she thinks is important.
The latest version of the indictment returned on April 4, adding two new charges and allegations of the use of force, fraud or coercion to force women to engage in commercial sexual acts from 2021 to 2024.
It also claimed that the comb was involved in the transport of the woman (determined only as “Victim 2”) and others, including commercial sex workers, engaged in prostitution during the same period.
The new charges reinforce a complaint that he has committed extortion and trafficking.
Federal prosecutors say the conspiracy charges of extortion involve three victims of accusations of combing out sexual acts and force a quarter of his employees to engage in sexual activities with him.
His attorney responded to the latest version of the indictment, saying there were no new charges or chargers added, but only related to former long-term girlfriends who were involved in the voluntary relationship.
The prosecutor said the comb was forced and abused for many years as he used his “power and reputation” as a music star to recruit a network of employees and employees to help him, while he silenced the victims through blackmail and violence, including kidnapping, arson, arson and body beating.
They say the founder of Bad Boy Records has lured female victims into drug use, meticulously planning a sexual performance with male sex workers to be called “freaks.”
