Federal government brings immigration case against drivers in OC crash, killing couple
The Trump administration’s new chief federal prosecutor in Los Angeles said his office intends to file immigration charges against a man waiting to be released from state jail after a 2021 crash caused by a young couple on Highway 405.
Bill Essayli, who was sworn in as a U.S. attorney in Central California earlier this month, focused his attention on the case, and reported that the driver pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter of a large vehicle while drunk and could be released after serving about 10 years in prison.

Essayli notes that the pending charges (originally brought by his predecessor under the Biden administration) would be sentenced to illegally re-enter the country for two previous deportations.
Ortega-anguiano, 43, was affected by drugs and alcohol. Under the influence of drugs and alcohol in November 2021, his Volkswagen Volkswagen crashed into 19-year-old Anya Varfolomeev and Nikolay Osokin, both of whom were killed during the Honda outbreak, according to court records.
Fox News said it had reviewed notices the state sent to Varfolomeev’s father to Ortega-Gunguiano, who was reportedly able to release him to Garden Grove.
State prison records show Ortega-anguiano is eligible for parole in July and is currently located in a California medical facility in Vacaville.

Border Cheese Tom Homan vowed to send federal immigration and customs law enforcement officers to execute a deal called detainees under which local officials will face individual possession deported.

Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press office then issued a statement pledging to honor the detainees on Ortega-Guangiano, who said state prison officials “will coordinate with the ice again because they have ice with more than 10,000 inmates to be transferred before they are released.”
An ICE spokesman said he was detained on June 9, 2022, while Ortega-anguiano was placed in North Kerr State Prison. His previous criminal convictions include a burglary in 2005, according to the ICE. Vehicle theft was in 2007; and in 2014 abducted spouse from his spouse.
“This tragedy is completely preventable. The crime is illegal for foreigners should never be in our country,” said Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. “We hope that California law enforcement can ensure that foreigners in the crime are not released into the U.S. community.”
Court records show that he failed to interrogate Ortega-Gangiano’s federal arraignment as required by the State Prison, as required by the Immigration Charge (Ortega-anguiano). In federal cases, he has not yet filed a plead guilty plea.
The Newsom office statement noted that when Ortega-Ganguiano signed a plea agreement that led to his current prison sentence, Republican district attorneys were in charge in Orange County. Newsom’s statement suggests that severe penalties may be sought under the charge of second-degree murder.
Orange County Da Todd Spitzer retorted with his own statement that Ortega-anguiano “assured the court and the judge under California law was sentenced for opposing opposition from Orange County prosecutors, who did not successfully sentence the maximum sentence.”
