The New York Post spoke with a pastor and several new Catholics about the recent wave of conversions across the country, especially among young people.

Sydney Johnston’s young woman in Manhattan tells the Post about how she first grew up in a non-denominational Christian family. After leaving religion for some time, the pandemic hit her during her college days inspiring her to rethink her life. When the lockdown ended, she embarked on a two-year exploration to discern what she believed to be true belief.
“I thought of this question, like do I feel God here?” The young woman recalled, “and I ended up feeling that I was most attracted to the Catholic masses. ”
The roots in “ancient history” are at the heart of the realism of the Catholic Church, she said.
“There is something beautiful and transcendent about the ancient history of the rituals and the Catholic masses,” Johnston said. “The Church does convey a level of reverence that I didn’t find in the more liberal approach of the non-ruling church.”

Taylor New, a 27-year-old Cincinnati native, said she never returned to her former evangelical belief once she saw YouTuber’s videos about Catholic history.
“I decided to watch it, not think too much – but I joked that that video ruined my life in the best way, because that got me in the excitement of research,” New told The Post.
She said that despite her painfully abandoning her former faith community, people like her have a gravitational attraction in the resources on the internet.
“A lot of young people are transforming into faith, and I think it’s just because there’s a lot of things to search on the internet and people are just looking for the truth, which has attracted them to the Catholic Church,” she said.

A 30-year-old software developer named Adrian Lawson told The Post that he was initially promoted to a non-sectarian and then became an atheist as a teenager. The conversion that inspired him to Catholicism was based on watching the debate between Catholicism and Protestant YouTuber, after which Protestant influencers turned Catholicism.
Despite his parents’ “very strong negative reactions”, Lawson began participating in the Catholic masses in 2022 and made a complete conversion a year ago.
“I have anxiety, depression and panic attacks, but I have not had any problems since I started praying for the rosary regularly,” he said.
