Moscow accuses Ukrainian forces of breaking Easter ceasefire

Russia has accused Ukrainian troops of continuing the attack despite Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of Easter.

Moscow’s defense ministry said attacks in the Donetsk region and elsewhere have been stopped.

The ministry said there have been dozens of drone attacks, and hundreds of shells were fired by shells overnight. It said the attacks targeted border areas such as Bryansk, Kursk and Bergorod.

“There are deaths and injuries in the peaceful population and damage to civilian buildings,” the ministry said. No details of the casualties were given.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russian forces of breaking the ceasefire proposed by Moscow itself. “Trying to create a general impression of a ceasefire, while attempts to facilitate and cause losses are still being continued in some areas,” Moscow wrote on social media platform X.

Information from both sides cannot be verified independently.
